Greetings people I'm back with another blog post and yes it's night time in Germany plus I'm now at a town more than 5 kilometres away from Peenemunde but I can't start now but I will tomorrow so, hold blog post production.
(30/07/2017) Okay, I'm back again, as I was going to say last night but I ran out of time is that Yesterday was the day I've been waiting for and I'll explain that in the blog post, so now, I can continue with the blog post.
The start of the day, we packed our bags and set off early to the Zagreb international airport and we flew to Germany, the flight took more than an hour to get to Germany. We landed at the airport of the capital of Germany known as Berlin and this airport is the airport we'll be using for the flight back to Perth. We took a taxi to our hotel although, it was so cold at that time but we did have a walk through the city and having some lunch, then continuing the walk. The rest isn't important.
The next day we went for a bus tour around Berlin, looking at all the buildings, even the big television communication Tower and we went through the whole tour and had lunch, had a rest and went to LEGO land but it was only for young children which was so disappointed as it was only for young people. After having donuts for afternoon tea, we went to the LEGO store at the end of the LEGO land but we didn't get anything so then we went to the spy museum, looking at all the stuff of spying even things that people use when trying to get secret stuff from the enemy but the rest of the day was normal.
(31/07/2017) sorry, I'm back now and in Berlin again and for the final time for the holiday because in a few days, we'll be off heading back to Perth. So let's continue.
The next day we got up and had breakfast and went off to get a car and set off to the town I've spoke of earlier. As we arrived, it was like an old hotel, with old doors. No offence to the people who work there but yes and it has a pool. We did have some lunch and dinner, before the time of having dinner, Mum and Dad went off to Peenemunde but their ride was cut short because of a car accident, so they had to go back and try again and having me with them on the next day.
The next day was the day I've been waiting for. After having breakfast, Mum, Dad and I got ready and went out to Peenemunde, the first facility where the V2 missile/rocket was first built and launch tested during the Second World War until operation Hydra (Not sure if it's spelt correctly) which was the code name of the British bombing attack at night. We've spent hours there and taken some photos, even from my new tablet.
We've also listened to the audio devices for the tour. The bottom photo is the rebuilt power station since the bombing of Peenemunde and all the rest were destroyed. And we even watched the old footage of the launch of the V2 which is the rocket same as the mock up in the middle photo and also learnt about the power station it self. We went home after and the rest is not as important.
The next day which is Yesterday, was the final day in that town untill returning to Berlin. The whole family returned to Peenemunde and when into the 2 ships for he German Navi of the Cold war although, Germany might have not been in the Cold war but the ships were there. A submarine and a light ship. After coming back to the hotel, we went for a bike ride and everything went well untill Mum got hurt on her left knee as she fell off by accident. Dad and I went on for another 5 minutes untill returning back and the day ended with a nice dinner as I had the other 2 days with a nice juicy steak with potatoes and beans.
Today is the end of July and after having breakfast, we went off for Berlin again. We had some delays because of road works and some stops for 'you know what'. After arriving our problems have just begun as Dad was arguing to the men working at a car ownership for scratches on the car that we didn't notice or not actually there. The problem had to be dealt with later because first we had to get to the hotel we stayed in before 3 days ago and after arriving, having a rest. The rest of the day, we went down to the underground train station to get to the restaurant we've been to before the day we left Berlin and after dinner, Emma and I went for some ice-cream when but before that, the waiter asked Dad to write a tip on the recites but Dad was so confused so the waiter rushed off in anger. As Emma and I took the train back, Emma was not feeling well as she just got sick again but now we're about to prepare for the night and now I have just caught up with the time.
Just before I go, just for a reminder, I will make another blog post tomorrow but that post will be on extra features, mostly about Emma's French family and the family of Dad's cousins. And the day after tomorrow, I will make another blog named "A holiday coming to an end". So I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and the rest of the blog so good bye.
Hi again Daniel. Once again I've thoroughly enjoyed your post. You've all had such great adventures and I'm glad you finally got to you Peenemunde. The photos are good too.
ReplyDeleteThis morning Perth was the coldest city in the world, and it felt like it. poor Claire has been getting up at 4am to go to work and it's been tough.
Thomas and Bruce are still up north fishing and Cheko and I are relaxing at home.
Say hi to mum, dad and Emma and soon you will be able to tell us all about your holiday in person. XX
Thanks Aunty Linda, I've also really enjoyed being at Peenemunde as well, I've enjoyed being at that Power station which is what remains of the facility and was rebuilt but all the rest except for a research facility was demolished since Operation Hydra and all the rest of the holiday was great and another time I'll come back to that place again.
